What this kit does

The kit routes cooled or heated cabin air from the front centre vent through a sealed rear window panel and into your tent or swag. It is a ducting path, not a second air conditioner.

Who this is for

  • BYD Shark 6 owners using rooftop tents behind the cab
  • BYD Shark 6 owners running swags near the ute
  • Campers who want fast setup and pack-down

In the box

  • Centre vent adapter
  • 4 inch black nylon duct with magnetic quick-connect couplers
  • Rear window blanking panel with seal
  • Tent or swag zipper vent adapter
  • Stainless steel hose clamps
  • Insulated travel bag that also doubles as an esky / cooler bag

Installation steps

Step 1: Fit the centre vent adapter

Clip the adapter onto the front centre AC vent in the Shark 6 cabin and close all other vents.

Step 2: Connect and route duct

Connect the 4 inch nylon duct to the adapter using the magnetic coupler and route it through the cabin to the rear window location.

Step 3: Install rear window panel

Wind down rear window of choice. Connect the 3 blanking pieces together and put panel into window frame, then slowly wind up window onto the blanking panel.

Step 4: Connect to tent or swag adapter

Attach the outlet side to the tent or swag zipper vent adapter. Check magnetic interfaces are aligned and secure.

Step 5: Run AC and tune airflow

Use Camp Mode to turn the vehicle climate system on (the petrol engine does not need to be running). Adjust fan speed and temperature for camp conditions.

Setup tips

  • Pre-stage your duct run path before sunset for faster setup.
  • Keep bends smooth to maintain airflow.
  • Remove the kit when not camping so you can use the rear window as normal.

Wet weather

The rear window blanking panel includes an integrated seal designed for wet-weather camping use. It is not IP-rated and does not claim formal ingress certification.

Performance expectations

Cooling results depend on ambient temperature, tent or swag size, insulation, and vehicle AC settings. during testing overnight with at a 24°C target, cooling ran about 15 hours using about 45% battery (70% to 25% state of charge).
